Taction Software LLC observed “Puzzle Day” & “International Fun At Work Day”on January 29th
It was Friday and the floor sat with some anticipation and excitement. Taction’s People Engagement practices by the HCM Team have observed Fridays as days of Fun, Activities and Celebration.
POP! Came a short message on “Yammer”- the official internal communication and social sharing portal, a Sudoku challenge was open to the floor, fastest one to solve, will win.
PUZZLED? What does a Sudoku has to do with fun eh!
Well Taction celebrated or rather puzzled 29th Jan, as “puzzle day”. The day is observed worldwide as the day to solve and enjoy various kinds of puzzles. The activity was merged as a part of the larger event “International Fun At Work Day” – A special day to Enjoy , Play silly and Dance to the loud music & did we do that!! Oh boy! Read On
Here is some interesting history regarding the puzzle day:
Started in 2002 by Jodi Jill, National Puzzle Day was created as a way to share her enjoyment of puzzles. As a syndicated newspaper puzzle maker and professional quiz maker, Jodi Jill developed classroom lesson plans especially for National Puzzle Day and the popularity has grown year after year.
Whether it’s a crossword, jigsaw, word searches, brain teasers or Sudoku, puzzles put our brains to work.
Studies have found that when we work on a jigsaw puzzle, we use both sides of the brain, and spending time daily working on puzzles improves memory, cognitive function and problem solving skills.
Sudoku, a puzzle sequencing a set of numbers on a grid, exercises the brain as well. By testing memory and logical thinking, this puzzle stimulates the brain and can improve number skills.
The bottom line is, puzzles stimulate the brain, keeping it active and practicing its skills.
Tacteam love to solve. “Innovation” is a Taction mantra! The floor was soon abuzz with Sudoku puzzle getting solved and the screen shots were shared widely. Until we all realized, the HCM team had another one up their sleeves – this time a mind blowing Picture puzzle.
The day was full of brainy fun and made the floor think out of the box. The fun had just begun!
What followed next was “Monthly Birthday” celebration. The Cakes were cut and snacks took rounds. It was fun, the way we at Taction celebrated “International Fun At Work Day” in true spirit & was ready to take on Monday with such energy and gusto.
