Celebrating International Women’s Day: Creating a platform for all to have their SAY !!

International Women’s Day (March 8) is a global day, celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity.

International Women’s Day (IWD) has been observed since the early 90’s – a time of great expansion and turbulence in the industrialized world that saw booming population growth and the rise of radical ideologies.

Taction celebrated IWD in its premises with all its members. It was celebrated in a way that matched the theme of this year Taction’s IWD celebrations of ”Creating Freedom” – this was achieved by Organizing a Discussion Forum, exclusively for the Women members of the Taction family..

The panelists were welcomed by the CEO, Mr. Pranabjyoti Das with a beautiful Red Rose bunch and personalized card meant specially for celebrating IWD. The discussion was moderated by Micky Chopra, VP – HCM, who initiated the discussion within the right context.

The open forum was organized with a single aim i.e To provide that exclusive space for the women to voice their candid opinion on the topics that have a direct impact on the empowerment and the “never say die spirit“ of women.

To make it more engaging, the topics were in question’s format and each female member was asked for her perspectives/views. The discussion also saw members located remotely who participated via SKYPE. The topics discussed were simple yet deep impacting:

• Women Empowerment means different to different people. How do you relate to it?
• Do you think there is a need for more Women Leaders and Why?
• Who is/are your most inspiring Women as your role model or HEROs in your life?
• How do you see Taction helps in building and acknowledging the spirit of women?

The questionnaire was answered by each member in various forms, some gave straight opinions and some narrated their experience(s). All touching upon their personal lives, taking turns to introspect and come up with some interesting insights. The discussion also saw active participation from the other members, asking questions and offering their opinions. The discussion took a long time than anticipated and the house listened to each point of view, silently- deep in their thoughts.

Joining the members’ discussion, Pranabjyoti gave an interesting perspective to the relationship of Men and Women, drawing inspiration from the famous book “Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus”. He drew our attention to the fact that Women are born Multi-Tasker and born Managers & Leaders.

The prevailing Gender Bias was also discussed, especially in the creative field and Subrata Kar, Head – Community Engagement, gave interesting insights into the history and its impact on the modern times. He also pointed out to the marked positive shift in the mindset of the Creative society, towards the other half of the human population in the recent times.

The opinions and the views exchanged were an eye openers and the candid confidence of the female members sharing their opinions freely, was a privilege to watch and listen. At the end, everyone agreed that International Women’s Day is all about celebration, reflection, advocacy and action.

The female members then headed straight to an awesome lunch arranged in the nearby restaurant.

Taction has once again come up to convert their vision of “Equality for All” in action …
